As the year 2020 wrapped up, the performance of music and podcast applications on a unified platform demonstrated notable trends across Europe. Sensor Tower's data gives us a clear picture of how these apps fared in the fourth quarter.

Spotify - Music and Podcasts, published by Spotify from Sweden, saw a fluctuation in downloads, peaking at 1.2M in late November and again reaching 1.3M in late December. Weekly active users also saw an uptick, reaching a high of 94.7M at the end of November. The app's revenue trended downwards, ending the quarter at $111K.

Shazam: Find Music & Concerts, by Apple, maintained a steady download rate, ending the quarter with around 700K downloads. Active users peaked in the last week of December at over 36.5M. Revenue remained modest, closing at $596 in the last week of December.

YouTube Music, from Google LLC, experienced a surge in downloads to over 800K in mid-October, eventually settling to around 450K by year-end. Active users showed consistent growth, ending the quarter at over 32M. Revenue showed resilience, ending at $591K in the final week.

Lastly, SoundCloud: Discover New Music by SoundCloud Global Limited & Co KG, displayed consistent download numbers, with a notable peak of over 210K downloads in late October. Active users experienced a slight decline, ending the quarter at around 16.8M. The revenue followed a similar pattern, ending at $174K.
